FIRE is…
What is FIRE? Here is what it means to me…
FIRE is… Financial Independence, Retire Early
FIRE is… taking your life back from The Man
FIRE is… escaping the rat race
FIRE is… putting time above money
FIRE is… saying no to being a slave to debt
FIRE is… buying your life back
FIRE is… walking away if your values are compromised
FIRE is… calling bullshit on shady corporate behavior
FIRE is… knowing what is “enough”
FIRE is… finding happiness in the simple (often free) things in life
FIRE is… trying to leave the world in a better state than when you
FIRE is… constantly learning and growing as a person
FIRE is… having an open mind
FIRE is… new ideas, lifestyles and opportunities
FIRE is… living a long, happy and healthy life
FIRE is… living and spending intentionally
FIRE is… mocking standard consumer behaviour
FIRE is… treading a different path
FIRE is… embracing the unconventional
FIRE is… frugal and efficient living
FIRE is… not wasting the planets resources
FIRE is… renewable energy
FIRE is… embracing new technology
FIRE is… spreadsheets 🙂
FIRE is… giving something back to the community
FIRE is… optimising for happiness
FIRE is… long term thinking
FIRE is… living for today, saving for tomorrow
FIRE is… security
FIRE is… life hacking
FIRE is… beating the system
FIRE is… setting your own schedule
FIRE is… taking control of your own destiny
FIRE is… not getting up at 6am 🙂
FIRE is… spending more time with the important people in your life
FIRE is… Chasing the sun, together
What does it mean to you?

Love it – nothing else to say really!
Thanks Paul!
Haha, I remember those ‘Love Is…’ cartoons!
As Paul says, there’s nothing else to say – great list there to reflect upon for the weekend!
Cheers weenie, hope you had a good one 😉
FIRE is… Hot and you can burn yourself if you’re not careful. 😉
Haha we can always rely on you for a cheesy gag Huw. Thanks! 🙂
Good stuff!
I’ll send you a note as this needs to be shared more broadly.
ESI Money recently posted…My Retirement Story, Part 3
Thank you ESI Money and thanks for sharing.
FIRE is…living for a living.
That’s what I want to do, anyway. No more paying for my expensive car to drive to work to pay for the clothes I work in and the house I leave empty all day. Ick.
Does anyone else ever feel like they’re living in the Matrix? That’s what commuting into London feels like for me.
“Wake up, Neo.”
Aha, in that case, FIRE is….taking the red pill… 🙂
Hehe… feeling that on the commuting thing. In fact typing this comment from the train right now. Wake up TFS!!!! 🙂
Living for a living, that’s a really good one. Thanks Mina!
yes, but not spreadsheets – that’s work ..
Hah, maybe it’s just me on that one then PC 🙂
Got it in one, Firestarter, or should I say 36. If you don’t mind, I’m going to copy this, print it and stick it on the fridge. To everyone else, if you haven’t already reach your financial independence goal, this should be all the motivation you need. Nice work Firestarter.
Thanks for the kind words Martin, appreciate it. I’ll look to getting a fridge ready version up in future 🙂
Love the post. My favorite is that FIRE is living and spending intentionally. Just do that, and so much else falls into place.
Thanks DbF. And very true!
Great list 🙂
Cheers SB!
.. having enough savings + side income to quit a job which stresses you out every day and go to something far more enjoyable and peaceful.
That pretty much sums it up Guy. Cheers!
I associate with so many of these, but my favourite because it made me chuckle and struck a chord was “spreadsheets”!
Great inspirational list, thanks TFS.
OR
Yay, it’s not just me then 🙂
Cheers OR!
This was one of the blogs that inspired me to pursue FIRE. I look forward to tracking your progress!
Ahh nice to hear that Cam! Glad to see some of the older posts still getting some action as well 🙂
Cheers and GL!
